Tahukah kalian?
Sejak tahun 2017, soal-soal UN mulai diarahkan menuju model pertanyaan penalaran tingkat tinggi atau High Order Thinking Skills [HOTS]. Oleh karena itu, kalian harus sering berlatih mengerjakan soal-soal sejenis agar terbiasa.
Apa itu soal HOTS?
"Pada prinsipnya higher order thinking adalah cara berfikir logis atau proses penalaran", Kemendikbud [2017]
Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut, berikut adalah hal-hal penting mengenai soal-soal HOTS.
- Pada proses berfikir tingkat tinggi, kalian harus dapat menunjukkan pemahaman akan informasi dan bernalar, bukan sekedar mengingat kembali atau recall.
- Pokok soal perlu memberi informasi yang dibutuhkan untuk menjawab pertanyaan tersebut dan kalian mampu menunjukkan pemahaman terhadap ide dan informasi, serta memanipulasi atau menggunakan informasi tersebut.
- Pertanyaan yang sifatnya higher order thinking tidak selalu harus lebih sulit, misalnya menentukan arti dari kata yang sangat jarang digunakan belum termasuk HOTS. Soal sulit bukan berarti higher order thinking, kecuali melibatkan nalar untuk mencari arti kata dari suatu konteks atau stimulus.
-Stimulus dapat berupa teks, gambar, grafik, tabel, dan lain sebagainya yang berisi informasi-informasi dari kehidupan nyata. Stimulus yang menarik akan mendorong kalian untuk membaca.
- Berdasarkan informasi-informasi yang terdapat dalam teks, kalian diminta untuk:
1. mentransfer informasi dari satu konteks ke konteks lainnya,
2. memproses dan menerapkan informasi,
3. melihat keterkaitan antarinformasi yang berbeda-beda.
4. menggunakan informasi untuk menyelesaikan masalah, dan
5. secara kritis mengkaji/menelaah ide atau gagasan dan informasi.
Telaah Soal Tipe HOTS
Apakah semua soal di UN nanti soal HOTS? Tentu saja tidak. Pemerintah telah menetapkan persentase soal HOTS untuk tiap tahun dan diharapkan muatan soal HOTS di soal UN meningkat setiap tahun.
Ayo! Tantanglah diri kalian untuk selalu berpikir kritis saat membaca berita atau unggahan apa pun di gawai [gadget] kalian. Hal ini juga merupakan salah satu cara untuk melatih daya nalar kalian.

"Oh, hen, can you do me a favor and lift this branch? It fell on my right wings so I can't move anywhere," begged the butterfly to the hen. "Okay, get ready butterfly, I will try to remove this branch," said the hen. So, she helped the butterfly and succeeded.
Unluckily, the butterfly's right wing was broken and flying was impossible. The nice hen offered the butterfly shelter in her cage until it was ready to fly again. Time passed by and finally the butterfly could fly freely. "Thanks, hen, we will be best friends forever from now on," The butterfly shouted while flying away. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Last holiday, my family and I visited Sri Gethuk Waterfall in Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta Province, Indonesia. It was the first time that I visited such a wonderful place.
To go to Gunung Kidul Regency, we drove for two hours from Sleman, on of the cities in Yogyakarta. After that, to reach the waterfall location, we should go on a traditional boat. When we arrived there, I was amazed by the beautiful scenery of the waterfall. The water was so clean and fresh at that time and I could not bear to jump into it immediately. It was quite windy there and I could see only green, green, and green. Standing under the waterfall was quite an experience. It was like getting a massage! We ate some snack that we brought from home. Hearing the sound of falling water while eating made me feel peaceful and relaxed.
Finally, the day was getting dark and it was time for us to go home. It was such an unforgettable experience for me that I really enjoyed.
